Aquinas receiver Earnest Edwards, shown here in the Class AA state title game, caught five passes for 286 yards and was named MVP on Nov. 29.
We do A LOT for Fall All-Greater Rochester — our massive 163-athlete/11-sport section that included athletes from 36 different schools — but we don’t have a Plays of the Season — yet. MaxPreps, however, does have a Top 10 Football Plays of the Year and a 67-yard catch and run for a touchdown by Earnest Edwards made the list.
The senior wide receiver for Aquinas made at least six would-be tacklers miss during a 67-yard juke-and-jive-then-dash play during the Nov. 29 Class AA state title game, a 44-19 rout by the Little Irish of Saratoga Springs for the state-record seventh championship and second in the last three years. Edwards had a day, all right, catching five balls for 286 yards from quarterback Jake Zembiec. Three of them went for TDs and he also ran for one.
