Quashon Smith recorded 13 kills and seven service points and Jorge Rivera added 17 service points and nine aces for No. 4 East in the win over No. 5 Monroe in a Class A boys volleyball quarterfinal match Wednesday.
East came back from a two-set deficit to win the match.
The scores were 21-25, 18-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-23.
Anthony Garcia chipped in 10 blocks and 13 assists for East (15-3).

Class A Preliminaries
Pittsford took first place in eight out of 12 events swam at the Class A preliminaries. Earning All-American Accolades was Pittsford’s 200 freestyle relay team of Becca Evans, Lindsay Stone, Katie Smith, and Emma Corby (1:35.09). Smith also earned All-American Accolades in the 50 freestyle (23.15). Stone’s 200 freestyle time of 1:51.01 and 500 freestyle time of 4:53.80 earned All-American consideration. Also earning the AAC honors were Katie Smith in the 100 freestyle (51.57) and the Pittsford 400 freestyle relay team of Stone, Smith, Evans, and Corby (3:29.85).
